The Session (Elders)
Our congregation is governed by elders, one of whom is the pastor. The elders are chosen by the congregation on the basis of the Biblical qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 and are ordained to office upon acceptance of the congregations call. The group of elders is known as the ‘Session’ which meets regularly throughout the year to oversee the spiritual welfare of the congregation. Each elder is allocated a number of families for which he has a specific responsibility of pastoral care.
Whilst the session has full responsibility for the spiritual oversight of the congregation it is nevertheless subject to the higher courts of the Church – Presbytery and Synod.
The Deacon's Board
The Deacons look after the material and practical side of Church life. At present we have e Deacons, each one chosen by the congregation. We recognise the Biblical office of deacon and have recently replaced our committee with the Decon’s board. Deacons (like Elders) are men chosen by the congregation on the basis of biblical qualifications.
